After finishing filming for the introduction, my group and I looked at all of our footage to see how we can amend the montage as planned.
How are we going to do it?
We came up with the idea of using the song we filmed of Zak, the busker, to introduce our documentary. This generally creates quite an inviting approach as the song isn't too forward and infact is quite calm. It also reinforces this idea of how heroes have a massive effect on some people, as he has been inspired to make this song from his hero and music in general.
Nonetheless, we wanted to build the tension up, say by having a mini montage of people saying something like 'my hero is…' which is then followed by the people then saying who they're montage are - almost like the rule of three, or something similar to it. The general idea was to send the message of people saying who they're hero is and why, however using a montage of most of the people we filmed (obviously using the people whom come across to be the most passionate and inspirational), whilst having Zak play his music in the background.
After putting these ideas together, I made a draft of of the introduction, which you can see below:
Conclusion
Although this is only a rough draft, I think that the idea is quite effective, however just needs more editing. As a group we decided that maybe it would be better to instead have a montage of the best interviewees separately. For example, one person after another, instead of the original idea. Therefore, I will complete another draft of the introduction and upload it to my blog when it is completed.
