To help me learn the script better and to create a better understanding, I thought it would be useful to break the script down by focusing mainly on story ingredients, such as:
- The characters
- Locations
- Story - the goal, problem and the change
Characters
Main Character - focus of the story, narrated from start to finish of the script
Second Character - gives the main character the 'undefined package'
'Side' Character - doesn't really have much relevance to the script however is evident
Story Structure - Goal, Problem and Change
Goal - to receive the 'package'
Problem - is there a problem? Perhaps the character getting 'lost' or entering unknown land may be a problem, however it is resolved as he meets the other character and returns home.
Change - receives the 'package' - does the package have an effect on the character? Positive or?
Locations
Home - the story starts here and ends here. Doesn't have to be an actual home (i.e. house)
'Unspecified Location' - the character knows this location, as the script says "familiar glint"
'Another Location' - this is where the problem is occurring. The script describes the location to be 'Tighter' and the character becomes more unfamiliarable with this location.
'Different Location' - where the problem occurs. The character is now 'lost'.
'Unspecified Location' - here we don't know whether the character knows the area or not, however the character familiarises with it as it is where the two characters meet.
Story
- Character wakes up from a deep sleep at home, awakens by stretching and gets out of bed
- The character's telephone then rings, where a few words are spoken which you can guess is to confirm about the meeting (once you've read the script)
- The character gets ready by checking their appearance in a mirror and finds something unusual, which the character then turns away and continues to get washed
- Leaving home, the character checks all directions before leaving reflecting their mood of the day (so in my case feeling free)
- Entering a location which the character is familiar able with, the character flicks a look at an unknown character, and then continues onwards
- The character enters a tighter location - not familiarising as much as before as we can tell from the character stopping and looking around to see where to go
- The character now becomes lost at a different location and starts to become tense. The character checks the time then hits realisation and excitement as the character knows where to go and heads in the right direction.
- Entering an unspecified location which could be the meeting spot, the character then rings someone, confirming that the character is at the location where they meet.
- We now see the new character coming from a different location whom becomes more recognisable as he meets the focal character.
- This is where the change in the story occurs - the characters meet by greeting each other with a 'gesture'. The characters make small talk until the new character hands over a undefined package. Continuing the small talk as if the exchange was nothing, the new character then walks away and leaves the scene.
- Whilst examining the undefined package, it is shown that the package influences and changes the mood of our character (potentially linking to the theme of freedom).
- The character then leaves the scene and returns home, where the story ends showing a close up of a time piece (clock, watch, etc). In other words, the story begins and ends with a clock and at the home location.

Conclusion
Now that I have broken down the script, I feel more confident with challenging this script and adding freedom to it. However I'm still not entirely confident with the theme I have chosen - it seems difficult to convey freedom when the only change in the story is the use of the undefined package. Meaning, the package must symbolise freedom in a way, however the main character must revert back to the home location meaning I cannot use location to show a form of freedom.
