Visual Checklist

Introduction

Because I have never created a trailer (or anything visual), I thought it would be a good idea to make a checklist. Here I took note of all the scenes I have planned to use for my trailer, which I was constantly adding to right before I begun filming. These however were only general scene ideas - they didn't all include what camera shot to use as I wasn't certain myself what to use until I actually begun filming.

Additionally, I also added an estimate of how long I wanted the scene to be, by adding for example (2), meaning 2 seconds. To help me locate which scenes are where, I categorised the scenes dependent on the characters. For example, if a scene includes Joe and Tay, then it will be shown underneath Joe and Tay. I also included a section which focused on location scenes, or any other scenes which did not include any actors.

Below is my checklist - however they are only ideas so some of the scenes may not be used as well as any other scenes which may not appear on the checklist.

Visual Checklist

Location Scenes (no actors needed):

·     Blank screen. Fade into jacksons field at the top, showing background (5)

·      View of flats (5)

·      Run down street (5)

·      Jacksons Field (5)

·      Fast movement of cars (5)

·      Weighing up drugs (3)

·      Tracking on bridge showing bottom going up blurred then title comes up. End. (5)

Tay:

·      Tay getting ready. Could use mirror reflection (4)

·      Tay walking right to left  DO BOTH SIDES (4)
·      Shot of Tay looking at a text message (2)

·      Walking down street with hood up (Chalk Pitt) (4)

·      Tay running up to the boys mugging Joe. Could be a close up or hand-held shot (3)

·      Shot of Tay’s shock when he sees its his brother being attacked (3)

Joe

·      Flash to joe getting ready. Show school uniform (4) Audio: Brother? Hes nothing to me

·      Pushing the door. Audio: “Get the fuck off mum shes done nothing to you!”(2)

·      Walking left to right DO BOTH SIDES (4)

·      Joe walking to school (Jacksons) playing on his phone (3)

·      Hand held camera of him running, showing his feet (3)

·      On his phone again for the, however puts his phone quickly away and turns around (3)

·      Close up of Joe being scared/in shock (show emotions ) (3)

Tay + Joe

·      Revert opposite to Tay pushing Joe (after Joe pushes the door) (3)

·      Tay having Joe up against the wall by his collar, then lets go. Tay leaves slamming door (6). Black screen as door shuts.

Gang

·      Gang gathering, respecting eachother as they meet(2) (outside flats?)

·      Tay meeting his gang at the park, respecting (3)

·      Gathered in street talking with hoods up (2)

·      Gathered again. Possibly sitting at the park? Show smoking, must look like youts (3)

·      Blaine and G talking about the kid to Tay and Andy. Tay must walk off halfway through to look at his phone.

·      Show G and Blaine walking up towards Joe with Andy and Tay catching up (possibly jogging behind)

Everyone

·      Long shot of Joe walking past boys playing on his phone. See Blaine look up and point at the kid

·      Boys walking towards Joe (however hes in the distance)

·      Tay pushing G and Blaine off Joe. Andy watching surprised.

·      Tay punching Blaine in the face

·      G getting up after stumbling. Show him reaching for a knife in his pocket. G about to stab Tay

Blaine + G + Joe

·      Blaine and G asking what Joes doing. Do this by having camera looking at two characters pointing. Long shot of them showing that theyre talking to Joe (after he runs down the hill).

·      Shot of Joe angry throwing bag on the floor shouting at Blaine and G

·      Show Joe being chased, close up and long shot x 2 

      Although this was only a rough checklist, I found this to be very helpful for when I started to film. This is mainly because it enabled me to remember all scenes meaning that I wouldn't forget anything whilst filming which overall is very time consuming.
