Introduction

Whilst in the process of forming each shot and understanding how Kate and I are aiming to film DownStage, it grew apparent that some scenes diversify from each other. For example, our interview scenes has a different cinematic style compared to the 'actuality' throughout the narrative. Therefore, I thought it would be essential to create a DoP requirement document: a file that tells me, as the DoP, what is technically going to be needed for each shoot. This will include the following:

   - What camera to use, and how many will be needed
   - The sound set-up, due to some scenes requiring more sound inputs than others
   - Whether lighting may be required for the scene
   - If a tripod will be needed, or whether it will be handheld
   - What equipment is needed for the sound's inputs.
   - Which props will be needed
   - Which shoot day the scene will be filmed on, and which actors will be involved.
   - Any other additional notes which will be useful to know when filming.

Below is the document for what DoP requirements will be needed for each scene:

Conclusion

All in all, creating this has been very beneficial for myself. Not only has it enabled me to prepare which equipment will be needed for each scene and shoot date, but it helps to allow me to picture the scene and how it'll be setup. This is mainly helpful for sound - due to our project being an ensemble piece, I knew I would face the challenge of maximising the amount of sound for each scene, due to there going to be a few people talking.

Nonetheless, I wil, bring this document with me for each shoot date and hopefully it will be a consistent reminder on how to set each scene up, which more importantly will help to maintain time.
