What is our Channel Branding?
Originally, we were going to have a purple and white branding. This was mainly because it is quite unique as well as being quite eye catching and simple - perfect for our younger audience. A few weeks back me and Kate created a sketch for what our website homepage could be, as you can see below:
Of course, our news title and slogan would be placed at the top, however we decided to add social interaction into the top right so that our audience can get involved and to enable them to discuss on our website, keeping them interested as well as involved.

Nonetheless, we then would have our top stories directly below our title, on the left hand side of the website. These tabs will of course provide links to whatever the story is, which we will provide after we've filmed and put it on the website.
As well as our stories, we came up with the idea to have some informative articles which of course relate to university and students. This is where we came up with the idea of having an article saying something like 'top 5 universities' - a similar idea as to the student365 website which I evaluated around a month and a half ago.
And finally, to provide more entertainment for our website, Kate came up with the idea of showing instructions to drinking games and even an article on something like 'how to survive freshers flu' - just something which our audience can read casually. The idea is to have something informative however not serious, it's just something which can provide entertainment and interest for those who just want to sit back and relax and read.
What Are we Doing Now?
As previously mentioned in my last 'feedback and changes' post, we unfortunately have to scrap the idea of creating a website and the points shown above. This is purely because it is very time consuming especially when myself or Sam and Kate have no experience in website designing meaning we would have to teach ourselves whilst we make it.
So instead of this, we are now focusing mainly on our Facebook. This will be the main supplier to all links which are related to our news channel. For example, we will also have our own YouTube channel which will have all our videos on, and will also have a Twitter to allow the audience to get in contact with us with their ideas and opinions (which too works with our Facebook). This additionally allows us to provide extra information regarding our stories. For example, showing the exact ingredients needed for our cooking story, as well as how much each ingredient costs and from where.
The Facebook Page (link: https://www.facebook.com/SVTVnews)
Sam initially created the Facebook page. He named it our channel name (SVTV) and gave a slight brief on the website as to who we are, plus a couple of posts which link to our youtube channel and our videos. Sam also posted a couple of pictures on the Facebook page.
After viewing the website I decided to edit it slightly, adding in a bit more description just so that our audience can begin and start to get a feel of what our channel is exactly. I done this by adding into the long description section.
As well as this, I also posted a link to our SVTV+ section showing the extra cooking meals which we filmed. Additionally, I've also encouraged our audience to share our work plus to get involved by letting us know their comments and opinions. This is done by providing links to our YouTube and Twitter accounts plus showing them our '#SVTV' hash tag.
Our additional SVTV+ post |
This will be used to publish our videos not only to meet our project demands but purely because YouTube is an easily accessible website which will allow our audience to view our videos easily. Sam originally created the website however I added in description providing the ingredients and prices for the meals we cooked and giving links to our other websites.
As well as this, I also provided them a link to my blog to enable them to see the behind the scenes on our news channel in general plus to give them more information about how to cook these meals.
This was also done for our SVTV+ video:
What About Twitter?
Sam also created a Twitter page which was used purely so that our fans can get into direct contact with us by letting us know what they think, which in a way helps to promote our news channel as well. I added a couple of tweets to get the twitter account going as you can see below:
This shows if our news channel was to continue, we would easily be able to promote our news channel with ease as we now have 3 sources on the internet where our audience can view our work.
