Food Statistics

As we don't have any statistics to back up our cooking story, I've decided to do some research to focus on any statistics relating to students and the food they eat. This will aim to include:

  - How much they spend a day, week or month
  - The percentage of people who live just on instant food or takeaways
  - The main foods which are eaten
  - Eating structures and habits

Below is what I found whilst researching:

Independent Article: "Cant cook, wont cook?" http://www.independent.co.uk/student/news/cant-cook-wont-cook-a-tenth-of-students-never-make-their-own-food-8794409.html

   - A tenth of students don't make their own food
   - The maximum food budget for students is around £2.50
   - 65% of students skip breakfast
   - 59% of students skip lunch
   - 29% of students miss atleast one dinner a week
   - The top 5 students meals are:
        - Cheese Toastie
        - Chilli con carne
        - Spaghetti Bolognese
        - Tuna pasta bake
        - Jacket potatoes

Conclusion

This was the only information I was able to find when researching, however we only need a couple of statistics therefore this should be enough. The statistics are reasonably valid and reliable as the article was only last year, as well as the website, 'Independent, being an official published site which has a sub category for students.
