As time progresses and we begin filming next week, my group and I met up today to arrange shooting as well as to receive feedback from our script which we handed in.

Script Feedback

After handing in our second draft of our script (correctly formatted this time), our course leader Helen pointed out some areas for improvement. Nonetheless, this was expected as we hadn't finished our commentary for the script due to our narrative constantly changing.

So despite the obvious completion of the commentary, Helen also pointed out about our Girls Aloud fans being generally quite weak. She noted how that we aren't actually getting much out of them, like we are from Jake. For example, we learn from Jake how him being a super fan enabled him to feel more confident about himself and allowed him to come out as homosexual.

Therefore, we needed to develop more on our Girls Aloud fans. This is when we decided to scrap the idea of visiting the venue where they saw the band and instead focus on some different actuality and including something more emotive which can be developed to show the outcome of being a super fan. Our changes for the band are shown below:

     - Focusing more on the 'film night'. This can include leading to a discussion about which member of
the band the girls wanted to be, exactly how far does this movie night go (if they dress up, dance
etc) which can then lead into a discussion questioning any problems which a super fan may have
       created.
     - Leading on, we decided to instead try and get an interview from Kylie's boyfriend. This would
work well as Kylie is currently pregnant thus showing signs of becoming independent. The
questions will ask whether her addiction will perhaps be a problem when the new baby comes i.e.if
she names the baby after one of the girls from the band.

Similar to this, Helen also came up with the idea of developing on exactly what we want the audience to get from our characters. Which sort of super fans are they? Are they your typical teenager fans, mother fans, etc. Therefore, we needed to make it clear exactly what fans each of our characters are, like we have above.

Despite this, we also had to come up with an effective ending. This ending must draw conclusions to the key elements of our documentaries as well as showing any changes our characters have. For example, if Jake is happy with the tattoo, whether the Girls Aloud fans are going to grow up etc.

This and general improvements on the script were taken into accountant and my group and I are now planning to develop on our projects. Below are some changes which we have already made:

Changes to our Projects

A general change which we agreed on was to instead make our characters narrate - similar to Lenny in 'The Boy Whose Skin Fell Off'. This works much better compared to an ordinary narrator as it allows the characters to tell the stories themselves, making it seem less forced.

We have also decided to scrap the bouncer idea. This is mainly because we couldn't get in contact with the bouncer we wanted and are now starting to run out of time to find a different bouncer. Therefore, we are instead going to focus more on our two super fans.

Nonetheless, as we are visiting a tattoo parlour, we have also decided to interview the tattooist. This will involve questions linking to super fans i.e. do you get many tattoos of inspirations of music artists, the weirdest tattoo you've done, etc. This will help to set the scene more for the tattoo as well as getting a different view as to whether super fans use tattoos to show that they are passionate.

Therefore, this feedback was very useful as it has enabled us to develop further into our project and more importantly getting us ready for when we shoot for the next two weeks!
