Script Structure
Now that my group and I have successfully pitched our idea, we are now putting together the basic structure of our documentary into a script - how we want to show our documentary and what we are going to use and include.
To help organise and structure our script, my group and I decided to structure the script in terms of conventions instead of structuring the narrative (e.g. intro, ending, etc). This way we can cover all aspects needed to make a documentary as well as double checking to see whether we are missing anything or not have enough of one section.
Below are the convention titles which we used to structure our script:
Sequences: The layout/basic structure of our documentary
Interviews/Syncs: Style of interviews, their locations.
Cutaways: What we are going to use to flow the narrative together
Commentary: Whether we are going to use a narrator, presenter or neither
Actuality: What we are 'actually' going to film (real filming, not interviews, etc)
Music: General tone of soundtrack/sound effects
Archive/stills: Any still images which can be used to help portray the narrative
Graphics: Editing or effects, etc
So after using these titles for our script, below is our first copy. Initially, we are still quite early in the preparation stages of our project. Therefore some ideas will need more work and improvements as well as the chances of some subjects to be potentially changed, dependant on whether are plans can carry out as planned or not.
