Commissions Unit: Pitch Preparation & Idea Development
After discussing with my group throughout the week, we have come to agreements for our idea and beginning to prepare for our first deadline of preparing for presenting our pitch.
For our pitch, are course leader allocated what exactly we had to present, which you can see below:
- pitch synopsis + layout
- time which we would want our documentary to be aired
- general aiming of characters
- visual style: reality of characters, our intentions to get what we want to hear, etc
- Creativity intentions: what we want to do
- locations
- general style: narration, soundtrack, layout, themes, etc.
- our pitch: what we would want to see as the TV listing (25-50 words)
- generally anything else additional for our documentary (i.e. permission
- other research, including what inspired us to do this and why we have chosen it, etc
For the pitch, we are given 15 minutes to discuss our pitch, answering any questions given. Our interviewees are our technical support teacher Fergus, course Leader Helen, and someone who works in documentary with the BBC (not quite sure what her name was!)
After writing all of these points needed to make our pitch effective down, we managed to complete the majority of these points down during the spare time we had at university. However when we ran out of time, we split up what we wanted to research in different sections. I was allocated the visual style, locations sections, pitch, additional research and why we have chosen to use this for our documentary.
Once we all completed our individual research and what we wanted to do in our sections, we put all sections together on a word document which we would keep ourselves and give to our interviewees. Below is the word document of everything we wrote put together:
After completing all of this, we are now ready for our pitch on Monday!
