As I mentioned earlier, there is quite a high chance that I will alter some ideas in my trailer which I listed in my 'Trailer Preparation' post. Below are the changes which I have undertaken:
Split Screen
Initially, I thought the idea of having a split screen would be significant - it would help to show the rivalry and differences between my two brothers. However after my first day of filming I found this to be quite complex. It would consist of me having to have parallel shots of the two brothers which when filming with a small time-scale I thought would be too difficult. Therefore, instead I decided I needed to find a different way to portray the differences of the two brothers. So, I decided to use scenes which alternate between the two brothers, as well as having scenes showing the brothers not getting along. For example, I now have decided to use scenes of the brothers arguing, pushing each other as well as showing both of them in a vulnerable state.
Voice Overs/Text
In my planning, I mentioned that I was going to use a soundtrack with voice overs of the characters over the top. Nevertheless, I have decided to remove all voice overs apart from 1 voice over (the two brothers arguing - this then leads to Tay punching a cupboard which is the only additional sound in my trailer.). This is because I feel that the lack of voice over will allow my audience to become more familiar with the soundtracks instead, as I feel they work successfully in terms of creating a meaning from my trailer (as mentioned in my 'Trailer research: Soundtrack' post). Additionally, I have decided to add some text in my trailer, which should initially help the audience to understand the plot of my story. Here I am planning to have text saying "When a brother needs help" and "what comes first - family or reputation?" which should alternate with a shot of each of the brothers. For example, "when a brother…" should show on a shot of Joe alone and "what comes first…" on a shot of Tay alone.
