Story Board Excerpts

As part of our pre-production book, Kate and I decided that we wanted to have excerpts of our shot list which matched our story board, to show clearly how we intend to shoot certain shots.

The story board excerpts we decided to use are:

- The scene where Chantelle bribes John
- Ruby's interview scene where we learn about her relationship with Jamie
- Scene where Chantelle has her interview and spies on Jordan.

Instead of drawing out the story boards, Kate and I decided to actually take pictures of the key shots to see clearly how exactly we would go with filming each sequence. Once the pictures were taken, I would then edit the images to make it seem like a sketch - eliminating the background and focusing just on the image.

Firstly, I attempted to edit the images through Final Cut Pro as I know it has a sketch effect. Doing it this way would save time instead of going through Photoshop as I have several images to edit. Nonetheless, below is a comparison of an image with the sketch effect on:

As you can see, the image didn't quite turn out to how I was expecting. You can still clearly see whom the model is and the sketch effect itself seems to be too strong, which in most pictures had an effect on what was happening. So, I decided to research on how else I could do this.

I then edited the images through a website called Cartoonize that converts the image so that it looks like a sketch - making it seem like an actual story board. The purpose of this was mainly so we understand the shots and eliminate the background (and the models) so it focuses clearly on the type of shot used. Below are the images and sections of the story board that we aim to incorporate into our book:
