What are the Monologues For?
Now that we have begun casting for our show, Kate and I got together and decided to create mini monologues for each actor so that we can get a feel of whether they are suited for the role during the interview. This monologue simply included a couple of useful extracts from the script which I am writing, with titles showing what part of the script it is and the original stage directions. Some monologues may seem more descriptive than others mainly because the script is still in working progress, so I was unable to add in the dialogue. Nonetheless, all monologues have some form of dialogue and stage direction which will enable us to see whether the auditionee is suited.
Below are the first drafts of the monologues which I've produced.
Alex Mousk
Giles Phillipé
Chantelle Ray
John Ocean
Vic Chapman
Maddie Box
Ruby Roberts
Jamie Kipton
Feedback
After I completed these monologues, I sent them to Kate to see if they were OK for the auditions. We were both pleased that these would be a good and professional approach for an audition, as it shows we want to test and challenge our auditionees. Nonetheless, Kate tweaked some of the dialogue (which I've now changed in the script) and the monologues are now ready to be printed for our auditions.
Casting Update
Now that our casting advert has been live for a week, we've had a numerous amount of applicants which can be seen on my 'Casting Progression' post which lists all of the applicants whom applied. After telling our entrants that our audition's are for Friday, we created an audition document which lists whom is being auditioned and when. This can be seen below:
