What's The Update?
We've made some changes for our SnapChat story again, which you can see below.
Removing The Controversial Section
We've decided to remove the disadvantages and problems which SnapChat may convey, meaning that we wont be talking about the '#AfterSexSelfie' issue and the other minor points which I mentioned. This is mainly because we don't want our student audience to think that the report is biased, as it may come across that we are trying to criticise the application or even 'moan' about it.
Therefore, our story will instead revolve around how the application has thrived so much recently - focusing on statistics to show this growth as well as the impact the app has had on some people. This is where we will still be using our live interview to show how to take the perfect 'selfie'.
Changed Structure of our Story
Another reason why we've removed this is mainly because we won't have enough time for our live interview. Therefore, we have changed the structure of our story so it has less package and more interview.Introduction (30 seconds)
The introduction will focus on:
Cover for the #Selfie Song |
apocalypse: that they are taking
over our generation.
- Lead to how celebrities also take part in 'selfies', by showing a short
montage of these selfies e.g. Barack Obama 'Oscar' selfie, etc.
- A Definition of 'selfie' - and who took the first selfie (see my research
post)
- How it has led to a song to be created, called
'The Chainsmokers - #Selfie'
(YouTube link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kdemFfbS5H0). We could then have this song
as our soundtrack, which could then become distorted, allowing our reporter to come back onto
screen. This will then lead into our reporter to report back to our studio, which will then link to the
live interview.
- This will be reinforced by the statistics which I have researched (see my 'statistics' post)
Live Report (2 Minutes)
Once the news anchor reports back to our presenter, we then aim to have a live interview with a 'SnapChat addict' (who've we chosen), leading into our reporter asking the questions below:
- So how do you take a perfect 'Selfie'?
- How often do you take a 'selfie?
- Have you got an embarrassing SnapChat Selfie story?
- Would you say that taking selfies has boosted your self-confidence?
- Do you think this Snapchat Selfie craze will last or soon be overtaken by another app?
Nonetheless, we plan to film live how to take the perfect selfie. This will be very interesting as it will be realistic - the audience can learn how to do it instead of watching say an edited version which could've been enhanced. As well as this, it will be more entertaining live as we aim to get our reporter to do it as well. Once they have taken the perfect selfie, we also plan to put this image onto our news channel - linking our report to our website.
However, as this is live, we cannot plan how to take the perfect selfie. However I have already spoken to Charlotte asking her what aspects are needed to take this selfie, which are listed below:
- The camera angle
- The lighting
- The pose
- Using the phone's front camera
- Additional tips
Who Will You Be Interviewing?
The person we will be interviewing is called Charlotte Rogers. She can be claimed to be a 'SnapChat Addict' as she uses the app everyday without fail, and of course that means taking selfies everyday. It was quite difficult to find someone who we could interview however Charlotte is clearly confident as well as being very enthusiastic and chatty - perfect for an interview.
As she is one of my friends, I have already spoke to her regarding this and she says she is very excited to be interviewed and says she can easily show how to take the perfect selfie.
Where Will The Interview Be?
In terms of location, we haven't yet decided where we want to film for our live interview. However, Kate came up with the idea of filming in a woman's bathroom - this would be very suited as this is where most people (well women) often take a selfie, as it can be done post, during or pre a night out, as well as generally for any occasion. Nonetheless, we would need permission to film in here which might be difficult as the bathroom would need to be closed off for a short time. This however will be
confirmed on my blog once we decide where we want to film.
Our Presenter: Natasha Blick
We've also decided who we are going to use for our presenter, which is Natasha Blick. This is mainly because she showed the most enthusiasm with our story itself and wanted to see herself into how to take the perfect selfie (she said over a Skype call). As well as this, she was the only person whom applied to be a reporter instead of news anchor meaning that she has interest particularly in reporting. She also has weekly coaching and said that her coach can give her training on news reporting. She even said that she will bring her own questions to the film date which is always a good sign!
Our reporter, Natasha Blick |
When Will We Be Filming?
We have only arranged one date for fiming, which is Wednesday 26th November. This is because we aren't likely to need more than one day of filming, as all we need is the interview and then our introduction which shouldn't take too long.
My group and I are currently working on our script which should however be uploaded in the next two days. We will also be doing extra work such as confirming our locations and more, which will be updated on my blog once we've came to our conclusion.
