This blog post will show some images of where I am planning to film for my short and some extra information regarding permission:

School (unspecified location)

Because I am planning on filming at my old school (Sir Joseph Williamson's Mathematical School for Boys), I will need permission to film on the premises. So, I decided to email my ex head of sixth form (Mr. Bailey) regarding permission, which you can see from the email below:

After sending the email, I was shortly emailed back where I was given permission to film on school premises. Therefore I will be filming my 'school' location at Sir Joseph Williamson's Mathematical School!

Bedroom ("home" location)

This location will be filmed in my bedroom. I am planning on delibrately organising my room into a 'messy' state, however not too messy that it makes it difficult to understand what is where, etc. The idea of this must remain realistic however should work in a way to create subtle hints towards the plot of my story, hence the idea of using school books, stationary, folders etc scattered across my bedroom. The miss-en-scene and props work together to also show that my character is stressed and doesn't have the time to tidy his room. Nonetheless, this changes once he receives his results where in my film he cleans his room, which additionally emphasises his change in mood. Below is a general idea on how I want my bedroom to look for when I am filming:

The 'messy' room, where you can see books scattered amongst the floor etc

The room after my character tidies it, which you can see creates a more inviting
atmosphere

Alley (another location)

This alley is located a few minutes walk from my house. I feel this alley would work perfectly with my film - it is quite run down, narrow yet long and doesn't have any street lighting. This helps to add to the monotony of my film as the narrowness of the alley can relate to the 'tightness' and the idea of my character being trapped. The alley as a whole in my opinion creates a sort of intimidating and uncomfortable feel, thus referring to the general theme which I am intend to use.

These pictures are taken in the alley where I'm filming. As you can see,
the alley is long and narrow showing no sings of escape - linking to
my main character's scenario

Office

As previously mentioned, this location was proving to be problematic as it is difficult to find an empty and confined office. However, I have found an office which is unused where I work and have been given permission to use it at peak times. Although this isn't situated at the same location as the school, it doesn't entirely matter as the audience won't know that the office isn't at the school, because it is inside a building.

As you can tell from these two images, the office is very narrow and
small - perfect for my scene.
