Tutorial Feedback
In today's tutorial Simon and I went over the results from my first university project - the story telling unit. My overall grade was a B, equivalent to 2,1! Of course I was very impressed with this result as it was the first ever moving image work which I have created, so receiving a B was very good!My strong parts of the unit was mainly my script - Simon told me how it maintained to be very descriptive and almost perfect despite the ending of the script, which slightly lacked due to it feeling like it has been rushed.
However my video wasn't as strong as my script and blog. This was expected due to the software and filming being new to me. I was told I had enough coverage and editing skills, however my casting let me down as I didn't use professional actors.
Directions Unit Ideas Feedback
After going over my last unit, I went through my ideas for the project I am doing now. Firstly, Simon seemed impressed with the idea for my 4 minute film - he reminded me to make sure that I focus on how to actually 'direct' it, such as the use of the camera. He was impressed with the idea of going from being trapped to free, and how the camera is used to emphasise this change.I also spoke to him about the locations for my story - I wasn't sure how I was going to use an office for my story due to it being hard to find. So Simon mentioned that maybe it could be someone delivering the results - perhaps a friend or relative, or the results could be received over the phone. This seems more realistic however it would mean I would have to change the story in general, as the character wouldn't have to travel to school. Thus, I think I'm going to stay with the idea I originally planned, however may instead find a location and turn it into a temporary office.
To conclude, I was very impressed with the results I got for my first unit. It's allowed me to feel more confident with my production as the results show that I have what it takes to get high grades!
